Campaign update

Parks and Rec heard from SDA Tennis Access.

SDA Tennis Access spoke at the Encinitas Parks and Recreation meeting. This was an important step toward getting the city side of the conversation moving.

Updates

  • I spoke at the Encinitas Parks and Recreation meeting about opening the San Dieguito Academy public school tennis courts during appropriate non-school hours.
  • I handed out campaign cards so people could quickly find the website, see the agreement examples, and understand that this is a researched, practical proposal.
  • The message stays the same: school use comes first, the agreement examples already exist, and this is a solvable city-school partnership.

Next step

  • Encinitas City Council met the next night, August 19, 2026. SDA Tennis Access spoke there as well and asked the City to have staff evaluate a possible joint-use arrangement with SDUHSD.

We have school district momentum. Now the City can evaluate whether there is a workable path toward a real agreement.

We are providing solutions, not problems. The courts are already there. The agreement models already exist. Now we need enough community support to help the City of Encinitas and SDUHSD make this happen.
